Pixlar8k IPTV EPG: TV Guide and Catch-Up Explained

A long list of channels is only half of a good TV experience. The other half is knowing what is on, what comes next and what you missed. That is the job of the IPTV EPG, the electronic program guide that sits on top of your channel list. Every Pixlar8k plan includes a 7-day TV guide and 7-day catch-up on supported channels. This guide explains what an EPG is, how it loads in the most common players, how IPTV catch-up works, and what to do when the guide is empty or shows the wrong times.
What Is EPG in IPTV?
EPG stands for electronic program guide. It is the grid you have probably seen on cable and satellite boxes: channels down one side, time across the top, and programme titles in the boxes, often with a short description.
On IPTV, the guide works a little differently because the video and the guide data travel separately. Your player loads the channel list from one source and the programme schedule from another, then matches them up. The schedule data is usually in a standard format called XMLTV, which lists each channel's programmes with start and end times. Each channel in your list carries an ID, and the player uses that ID to find the matching schedule.
When everything matches, you get an IPTV with EPG experience that feels like regular TV: a "now and next" bar when you change channels, a full guide grid you can scroll through, and programme details you can open.
What the Pixlar8k IPTV EPG Includes
Here is what comes with every Pixlar8k plan, whatever the length or number of connections:
| Feature | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| 7-day TV guide (EPG) | Browse the schedule for the days ahead on channels with guide data |
| 7-day catch-up | Go back and watch earlier programmes on supported channels |
| Login formats | M3U playlist, Xtream Codes, or a portal for MAG boxes |
| Support | WhatsApp, 24/7, if the guide does not load |
Two honest limits are worth knowing. First, not every one of the 55,000+ live channels has guide data or catch-up; catch-up is available on supported channels only. Second, how the guide looks and how much of it you see depends on your player app, not on the service. The same Pixlar8k login can show a full grid in one app and a simple "now playing" line in another.
How the Pixlar8k EPG Loads in Your IPTV Player
How you get EPG for IPTV depends on the login type you use. Your Pixlar8k welcome details include your login and setup instructions, and our IPTV setup guide covers each device step by step.
Xtream Codes logins: the guide comes with the login
With a Pixlar8k Xtream Codes login (a server address, a username and a password), the player downloads the channel list, the movie library and the guide data from the same server. You do not normally need to paste anything extra. This is the simplest way to get a working EPG on IPTV, and it is how apps such as IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate are usually set up. After you log in, give the player a moment to download the guide before you open it.
M3U playlists: a separate guide address in some players
An M3U playlist is a list of channel links. Some playlists include the guide address in their header, and players that read it load the EPG automatically. Other players have a separate field, often called "EPG URL" or "XMLTV URL", where the guide address goes. If your player asks for one and you do not have it, message the Pixlar8k team on WhatsApp. If you are deciding between the two login types, our post on M3U playlists and Xtream Codes compares them.
MAG boxes: the guide comes through the portal
MAG boxes do not use a player app. The box connects to a portal address, and the channel list and guide are delivered through that portal. The guide appears in the box's TV menu once the portal has loaded.
Smart TV apps
On Samsung and LG Smart TVs, players such as IBO Player Pro, SetIPTV, NetIPTV and IPTV Smarters are activated by sending the TV's MAC address on WhatsApp. Once your playlist is linked, these apps load the guide in their own way; look for a "TV guide" or "EPG" view in the app's menu.
Pixlar8k IPTV Catch Up: Watching What You Missed
Catch-up, sometimes called replay or archive, lets you go back in time on a channel and watch a programme that has already aired. With Pixlar8k, catch-up reaches back up to 7 days on supported channels.
In most players, catch-up lives inside the guide. Channels that support it are marked, often with a small clock or archive icon. You scroll back through the EPG to an earlier programme and select it to play. Some apps also have a separate "Catch up" section that lists supported channels and their recorded days.
A few practical points:
- Catch-up depends on the guide. The player uses EPG times to know where each programme starts, so if the guide is wrong, catch-up can start at the wrong moment.
- Catch-up works best with Xtream Codes. The player gets the archive information directly from the server. With an M3U playlist, it depends on whether the player supports catch-up.
- Catch-up uses a connection. Watching a replay counts as one stream on your Pixlar8k plan, just like live TV.
Troubleshooting a Missing or Wrong IPTV EPG
Most guide problems come from the player, the device clock or a stale download, and most can be fixed in a few minutes.
The guide is empty
- Update the EPG. Most players have an option called something like "Update EPG", "Refresh EPG" or "Reload guide", usually in settings or in the guide menu. Run it and wait until it finishes; a large guide can take a little while.
- Restart the app, or reload your playlist or login, then open the guide again.
- Check that guide loading is switched on. Some apps let you turn the EPG off to save memory.
- For M3U playlists, check whether your player needs a separate guide address.
The guide shows the wrong times
If programmes appear an hour or more early or late, the guide data is fine but the time is being read wrongly.
- Check the device's time zone and clock. Your TV, streaming stick or box should be set to your actual time zone, with the time set automatically.
- Look for an EPG time offset setting. Many players have an option named "EPG time shift", "time offset" or similar. If the guide is consistently off by the same amount, adjust it by that amount.
- Update the EPG again after changing the time settings.
Some channels show "No information"
Not every channel has guide data, so a few blank rows are normal. If a channel you watch often is blank, update the EPG first. If it stays blank, send the channel name to Pixlar8k support on WhatsApp so the team can check it.
Catch-up will not play
Check that the channel supports catch-up, that the programme aired within the last 7 days, and that your player supports catch-up with your login type. If the replay starts at the wrong point, fix the guide times first. Still stuck? Our FAQ covers common questions, or contact us on WhatsApp.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is EPG in IPTV?
EPG means electronic program guide. In IPTV, it is the schedule data your player loads alongside the channel list, so you can see what is on now, what is next and what is coming over the next few days. Pixlar8k includes a 7-day EPG with every plan.
What does "Live with EPG" mean?
Some players, including IPTV Smarters, have a "Live with EPG" option on the home screen. It opens live TV together with the program guide, so you see channel names alongside what is playing and what is next, instead of a plain channel list.
How do I get EPG on my TV?
With an Xtream Codes login, the guide usually loads automatically after you sign in. With an M3U playlist, your player may read the guide address from the playlist or ask you to enter it. On a MAG box, it comes through the portal. If it does not appear, run the player's EPG update option.
What does "update EPG" mean?
It tells the player to download the latest guide data from the server. The guide changes every day as new programmes are added, so updating fixes most empty or outdated guides. Many players also update the EPG automatically at intervals.
Does IPTV have catch up?
It depends on the provider and the channel. Pixlar8k offers 7-day catch-up on supported channels, so you can watch programmes from the past week that you missed.
How do I use catch up on IPTV?
Open the TV guide, pick a channel marked with a catch-up or archive icon, scroll back to an earlier programme and select it. Some players also have a dedicated "Catch up" section that lists supported channels.
Make the Most of the Pixlar8k IPTV EPG
A working IPTV EPG turns thousands of channels into something you can actually browse, and 7-day catch-up means you do not have to plan your evening around the schedule. With Pixlar8k, the guide and catch-up come with every plan, and most guide problems are fixed by updating the EPG or correcting the time zone. Want to see it on your own TV first?
